Duocoat® VD, sound and construction vibration damping coating
Duocoat® VD sound and vibration damping insulating coating is specially developed for damping acoustic vibrations in sheet metal constructions.
Duocoat® VD forms a visco-elastic layer that suppresses vibrations in sheet metal constructions, reducing structural to airborne noise radiation and transmission of structural vibrations.
Duocoat® VD is used in vehicles, vessels, planes, industrial constructions, machinery enclosures and many other applications.
Duocoat® VD provides a substantial noise reduction, improving the work environment and increasing comfort in and lengthening the durability of the construction.
Duocoat® VD can be used in combination with Duocoat® TM or Duocoat® TI thermal insulation coatings to achieve also a thermal insulation value. The different insulating coatings are applied separately to fully utilize the specific physical properties of the separate products.
What is noise
Noise can be roughly devided into two sections :
Structural of structure borne noise
Airborne noise
Duocoat® VD is specially developed for damping structural borne noise. Structural vibrations caused by engines, drive shafts,mechanical loads (for instance products traveling in conveyor installations), water movement against a ships hull, rail or road induced vibrations and many other origins.
Structure borne noise will become audible when radiated from a sheet metal construction.
Duocoat® VD is applied at the source area's of structural borne noise to dampen the vibrations, preventing structure borne noise to become audible.
